Today we will learn 3 different to AFK woodcutting till 99. But before that, let’s go through the equipment you should use and the best places to do woodcutting.

Axes and Equipment

Rune Axe

To cut the trees you will need an axe, and the best axe for non-members is the rune axe. You will need level 41 woodcutting, level 40 attack to wield, and 7000 GP to use this axe.

If you are a P2P, the Crystal or Infernal axe is the best in slot.

Dragon Axe

Another axe you can use is the dragon axe; for this, you will need level 61 woodcutting, level 60 attack to wield, it costs around 47k GP. The Dragon axe can also give you a temporary 3+ visible boost to your woodcutting level.

Infernal Axe/Crystal Axe

There is 2 upgraded version of the dragon axe. The first one would be the Infernal axe. You will need level 61 woodcutting, level 60 attack to wield, level 85 firemaking to make, you have a 1/3 chance to burn logs, and it costs 1.3 million GP to make.

To create the Infernal Axe, use a smouldering stone on the dragon axe.

This axe is great for afk and can save a few trips to the bank, while giving some additional firemaking EXP.

From level 70 onwards you can use the crystal axe with the completion of the quest, song of the elves. It is created using crystal shards, dragon axe, and crystal tool seeds, it costs around 5 million GP to create. If you wish to save money, continue using the Infernal axe or Dragon axe, or just pick either the Infernal axe or the Crystal axe.

Lumberjack Outfit and Woodcutting Guild

This outfit can be unlocked by doing the temple trekking mini-game, and it will give an extra 2.5 XP for every log you chop.

To equip a lumberjack outfit you need level 44 woodcutting and this will give a total boost of 2.5%

Once you reach level 60 woodcutting and have 75% favor with Hosidious house, you should do all your woodcutting at the woodcutting guild. Cutting trees inside the guild gives an extra invisible 7+ boost to your woodcutting level.

Method 1 (Fastest)

Level 1 to 15

At this level, you will chop regular trees, and you only need to chop 97 logs to get to level 15

Level 15 to 30

At this level, you will chop oak trees, and you only need to chop 293 logs to get to level 30. You can chop these just outside of the Varrock western bank.

Level 30 to 35

You will chop willow trees at this level, and you only need to chop 134 logs to get to level 35. 

If you are free to play player, you can continue here until level 99, and you will need to chop 192,905 logs to get 99 woodcutting. You can chop these outside the Draynor Village bank, as it’s very close to the bank.

Level 35 to 99

At this level, you will chop teak trees. If you are not doing any tick manipulation, you only need to do teak trees until level 62. If you are doing two tick manipulation, you will double your XP and it’s therefore an effective way to 99, but it’s not as AFK as method 2 or 3.

You will need a short bow on rapid and nothing in your ammo slot. You also need runes to cast low-level spells. The first cast a spell on 2 rabbits and line them up. Then start casting spells on the rabbit and chop trees to get 2x XP.

Level 62

At this level, you can chop the Blisterwood tree in Darkmeyer, and you need 65,955 to reach level 90 or 167114 to reach level 99.

The Blisterwood tree is located east of the Darkmeyer bank, as shown in the picture below.

Level 65+

At this level, you will be chopping Sulliusceps mushrooms in the fossil island, and you need 38559 to get to 90 or 99095 to get to 99. This is the fastest woodcutting method in the game, but you need to finish the quest bone voyage.

You should have a high hit point and defense level because tar monster and spine mushroom will damage you. You can bring a Dragonfire shield, ring of suffering, hit point cape, regen bracelet, antidote, axe, digsite pendant, rake, and some food.

Level 90+

At this level, you should chop redwood trees at the woodcutting guild, and you need 20.232 logs to reach level 99.

Method 2 (Most AFK)

For this method, you need an iron axe at level 1, steel axe at level 6, black axe at level 11, mithril axe at level 21, adamant axe at level 31, rune axe at level 41, dragon axe at level 61, and crystal axe at level 71.

Level 1-60

• Levels 1 to 15 – chop regular trees (97 total logs)
• Level 15 to 30 – Chop oak trees (293 total logs)
• Level 30 to 35 – Chop willow trees (134 total logs)
• Level 35 to 99 – Chop teak trees (153083 total logs)
• Level 30 to 60 – Chop willow trees (3858 total logs)

Level 60-99 – Woodcutting Guild

Once reaching level 60 go get 75% in the hosidius house to enter the woodcutting guild and reach level 99 from here because you get 7+ invisible boost in the woodcutting guild.

• Level 60 to 75 – Chop yew trees (5353 total logs)
• Level 60 to 90 – Chop yew trees (28987 total logs)
• Level 60 to 99 – Chop yew trees (72919 total logs)
• Level 75 to 90 – Chop magic trees (16544 total logs)
• Level 75 to 99 Chop magic trees (47297 total logs)
• Level 90 to 99 Chop redwood trees (20232 total logs)

All these logs can be banked to get the profit.

Method 3 (Alternative Route)

Woodcutting guild

After level 60 you need to get to the woodcutting guild, located in the southern part of Hosidious house. You need level 60 woodcutting to enter the guild 75% Housidious house favor. You will get a +7 invisible woodcutting level inside the guild.

Level 1 to 15

You will be chopping normal trees and using iron axe (level 1), steel axe (level 6), and black axe (level 11). Each chopped log will give 25 XP for a total of 2411 XP. You get 11k XP per hour. You need to chop 97 total logs and spend about 10 to 15 minutes with no profit.

Level 15 to 30

You will be chopping oak trees using a black axe (level 11) and a mithril axe (level 21). Each chopped log will give 37.5 XP for a total of 10952 XP. You get 20k XP per hour. You need to chop 293 total logs and spend about 30 to 40 minutes with no profit.

Level 30 to 60

You will be chopping willow trees and using a mithril axe (level 21), adamant (level 31), and rune axe (level 41). Each chopped log will give 67.5 XP for a total of 260379 XP. You get 35k XP per hour. You need to chop 3858 total logs and spend about 7 to 8 hours with no profit.

Level 35 to 60

You will be chopping teak trees using an adamant axe (level 31), and a rune axe (level 41). Each chopped log will give 85 XP for a total of 251336 XP. You get 42k XP per hour. You need to chop 2957 total logs and spend about 6 to 7 hours with no profit.

Level 60 to 90

You will be chopping yew trees using a rune axe (level 41). dragon axe (level 61) and crystal axe (level 70). Each chopped log will give 179.375 XP for a total of 5072390 XP. You get 45k XP per hour. You need to chop 28280 total logs and time spent about 110 to 115 hours with a profit of 5.3 to 5.4 million.

Level 90 to 99

You will chop redwood trees and use a crystal axe (level 70). Each chopped log will give 389.5 XP for a total of 7688099 XP. You get 60k XP per hour. You need to chop 19738 total logs and time spent about 125 to 130 hours with a profit of 5.7 to 5.8 million GP.

Level 75 to 99 (extreme AFK)

You will be chopping magic trees and using a crystal axe (level 70). Each chopped log will give 256.25 XP for a total of 11824010 XP. You get 24k XP per hour. You need to chop 46143 total logs and time spent about 490 to 495 hours with a profit of 49 to 49.5 million GP.
