OSRS Pest Control Minigame Guide

Old School Runescape Pest Control Guide

In OSRS, Pest Control is a mission or challenge only available to members, and it can be described as a combat-based cooperative task. The players must protect the Void Knight from a mob of monsters and destroy the portal from where these monsters appear.

Many players eventually take on this activity because it is the only method in the game to acquire the Void Armor. Pest Control can be easy if you understand its basics so that you can complete it at a much faster rate.

Requirements

Level 40
Thankfully, there is only one requirement to do Pest Control, which is having a level 40 or more Combat.

There are three different levels of Pest Control in OSRS, which are Easy, Medium, and Hard.

  • You need to be level 40 Combat or above to board the Easy boat.
  • Level 70 or higher for the Medium.
  • Level 100 or higher for Hard.

Although it is easy to complete the Easy level, you will receive fewer points than the other levels. Even more, you will not be able to do many rounds because most players do not engage in the Easy level and remember that it is a cooperative mission.

Recommended: Combat 100
Many experienced players suggest increasing your rank to level 100 Combat to participate in the Hard Boat and attempt to acquire the Void Armor. If you haven’t reached level 100, you can try to join in the other Pest Control levels, especially if you are in a rush to obtain the Void. It will take longer to get void at the lower levels since you are awarded fewer points.

It should be noted that Pest Control is a safe minigame, and you would not lose anything while participating in it. You can also use high-tier gear to improve your chances, but it is unnecessary as long as you have a high Combat level.

Pest Control Location

Pest Control is located on its island, known as the Void Knight’s Outpost. You can travel to Void Knight’s Outpost from Port Sarim by talking to the Squire NPC.

If you do not want to travel to Port Sarim, you can also use the Pest Control Minigame Teleport.

Once you have arrived on the island, it is pretty easy to roam around and find out what activities and locations are located within. First of all, there is a bank in the southeast portion of the island. In case you need something from your storage or other banking needs.

From the arrival point, you must travel southwest of the island to find the ports for the Easy, Medium, and Hard boats. The boats from Easy to Hard clockwise if you ever feel lost. Choose the highest level boat you can get in and board it.

Gear

It is not that important what you wear or equip when doing Pest Control. You are not going to fight any bosses or high-level creatures, and there are always going to be other players doing damage as well. Thus, if you do not have the best in slot gear, you will be fine.

Melee Gear

In general, you should bring your top melee gear because most melee equipment doesn’t require any charges. If you use magic, you will be wasting your runes, while ranged attacks are more expensive, especially if you are using a blowpipe. Believe me; it is acceptable to feel amused when a player using a blowpipe or bursting magic spells when playing Pest Control. Ideally, if all the players participating do considerable amounts of damage per round, it may not matter what gear they are using as long as the rounds go by quickly.

Dharok Set

Equipping a full Dharok’s armor set is very popular in Pest Control because it is a safe death, and you can have low health to smash monsters to reckless abandon continually. This approach can be a bit expensive because you would need to repair your armor, and not everyone can adjust to the same budget.

Prayer Setup

Many players opt for using prayer gear. You can use Piety during the rounds because your Prayer points will restore in the end, and you will not need to use Prayer potions. You can use an Initiate setup, but Proselyte is a much better option for your Prayer. Prayer gear only matters for lasting the full round.

You will always be more helpful to your team if you do more damage, and killing random things is not going to help. So, in this case, it is far more critical to be smart than having the best gear.

How To Play Pest Control

You will need at least five players to start around. The official world for Pest Control is 344.

If the boat you board has 25 people, the round will start immediately. On the other hand, if there are more than 35 people, there is a slight chance that you will be left behind. It happens occasionally, but it is not that important, especially if you are on the Veteran’s boat.

Once the round starts, you will be sent to the island, and you must now fight to succeed.

The arena is not very large. In the center of the island, there will be a Void Knight that is on your team’s side, and there are four portals around the island that will continuously be spawning monsters.

These monsters will try to kill you and the Void Knight. If the Void Knight dies, you automatically lose the match. Thus, it is your goal to protect the knight and destroy the portals to win the game.
