There are 3 requirements before you can start fishing minnows:

  1. You must have 82+ fishing.
  2. Have finished the fishing contest quest.
  3. Have a full anglers outfit.

Equipment and outfit

Full angler’s outfits consist of angler hat, angler top, angler waders, and angler boots that can be acquired through fishing trawler mini-game.

You can use the fishing trawler teleport to get to the fishing trawler. Just click the mini-games tab, click fishing trawler and finally, click teleport.

The only requirement to use this teleport is to have 15 fishing.

Each piece of the outfit has one out of eight chances to get in the fishing trawler, and on average, you can do 4 games per hour. That adds up to about 8 hours if get the average drop rates.

Besides the full angler outfit, the only other equipment you need will be a small fishing net.

Minnows Location

Once you are all set up, travel to the fishing guild. There are a few ways to do it.

  • Skills necklace: Teleport directly outside the front door.
  • Ardougne cloak: Use it to teleport to the farm.
  • Camelot: Teleport here and run to the fishing guild.
  • Fishing cape: Teleport directly outside the guild.

Catching Minnows Tips

Once you reach the fishing guild, run north to the northernmost fishing dock and meet Kylie Minnow. After some conversation, get on the boat and go to the platform.

Notice the first thing you will notice is the blue and orange circles. It’s a feature of the RuneLite client. Although this is not part of the actual game, you can use it for efficiency’s sake. These circles will move a tile every 15-second intervals.

One thing you can do is to right-click on the circle before time runs out, and after the circle moves, left-click and you will be automatically directed to that circle. Or you can click right before it moves, and your character will follow the circle automatically. I usually do the first way.

If you see a red circle, that means flying fish are there, and they will eat 20 minnows every single time, so watch out for it and move to other spots if you see them.

Claiming Your Reward

Once satisfied, you can trade minnows for sharks with kylie Minnow. She will trade 1 shark for every 40 minnows. You will get between 10 to 14 minnows based on your level and some fishing XP drops.
