Kalphite Queen Solo Guide
Even though the Kalphite queen is a strong boss and requires some high level stats/gear, you can kill it her quite easily know the proper techniques and setups.
Slaying the Kalphite Queen in Old School Runescape can earn you decent gold. However, killing this boss will also help you complete the Desert Diaries, so you must eventually confront her at some point in your gameplay.
Requirements
Melee Level
There are a few requirements to fight the Kalphite Queen since you do not have certain missions or quests to access her. Therefore, any player who enters the Kalphite Queen’s room without any preparations will most likely get killed. Therefore, you should consider the following levels and stats as recommendations to prepare yourself when you truly want to fight the Kalphite Queen.
First of all, you should be at least level 85 or more in your Melee and Range Stats. However, it is possible to confront her at much lower stats if your goal is to kill just once for your Hard Desert Diary. The fight will not go as smoothly, and it can become quite tedious and exhausting, especially if you are trying to learn the mechanics of the boss.
It is not fun to fight the Kalphite Queen with bare minimum stats and then watch her take you down little by little. Therefore, try to aim for high combat before fighting her.
Additionally, the higher your stats are, the faster the kills, and fewer supplies are consumed. If you are a pet hunter, then it is best to battle the Kalphite Queen with a level 90 Melee or higher to improve your chances of getting it.
High Construction
It is rather uncommon to get lengthy multiple kill trips at the Kalphite Queen, which makes having a high-level house very helpful.
First of all, the best method of traveling is by using fairy rings, so if you have one in your house, it will save you a lot of time. Also, having an ornate pool will help you heal yourself between trips. If you do not have any of these items, you should look for some alternatives.
For example, you can acquire a dueling ring for healing up in Clan War and an Ardougne Cloak Teleport to get somewhat closer to the benefits of having a fairy ring.
Agility Level
Since there is a lot of running involved, especially before you unlock the Elite Desert Diaries, having a high Agility will be helpful in the long run. Either way, you will see that you need to have some Stamina potions or your trips back and forth will take you even longer.
Now, when you have access to the Elite Desert Diaries, you must be at least level 86 Agility or more to use the shortcut. Or you can also attempt being level 81 Agility and using a Summer pie to increase your level momentarily to level 86 Agility.
Gear and Inventory Setup
Bring the best melee crush and a ranged switch setup you can afford. You will be using both melee in the first phase and ranged in the second phase of the fight. It is important to have a blowpipe, for the attack speed. Also, bring a spec weapon(such as the Dragon Warhammer or a Godsword).
Helmet
Slayer Helmet
You will need multiple attack styles to knock out the Kalphite Queen. Ranged and melee attacks are your best options. If you are on a Slayer task, then you should wear the Slayer Helmet or at least a Black Mask.
You should 100% imbue it since they are practically useless for range if they are not imbued. Your next best option for a Melee Helm is the Neitiznot Faceguard. It has an excellent Strength bonus with an additional prayer bonus.
Serpentine Helmet
Another alternative is the Serpentine Helm, but it is not as high as the previous options. It is weaker and provides a negative ranging bonus to slow you down a bit on that front. It is also more expensive to use because it drains a lot of scales.
As a bonus, you cannot get poisoned when wearing this helm, which is an excellent benefit considering that the Kalphite Guardians can poison you. Therefore, you will not need to have an Antidote or Anti-poison potion in your inventory. If you are still unable t obtain these helms, you can resort to the Helm of Neitiznot.
Overall, acquiring a Slayer Helm and being on task is the best approach when fighting the Kalphite Queen.
Capes
Next, we have the Cape slot. The Infernal Cape is the best-in-slot Melee Cape, but you can also wear a Fire Cape. Another good option is the Mythical Cape, which gives a Crush bonus, and this will help you since the Queen is weak to Crush. If you cannot obtain the previous capes, you can look for an Ardougne Cape, and this will hold its purpose.
Necklace
In regards to necklaces, the Amulet of Torture is your best melee option. The Zenyte jewelry is costly but is much more potent than the next option. The Amulet of Fury is not a bad choice per se, especially since it is also the second-best ranging option.
Therefore, if you do not have a Necklace of Anguish to switch too, you can use the Amulet of Fury for both melees and ranged attacks. Your worst-case scenario is to use the Amulet of Glory. Your ammo slots are going to depend on your ranged weapons.
Weapons
As said previously, the Kalphite Queen is weak to Crush. Even though the Scythe of Vitur is not a Crush weapon, it is the faster weapon to use against her.
Your next best option is using the Abyssal Bludgeon. This is one of the fastest Crush weapons in the game, making it very convenient to battle the Queen. If you decide to use slower weapons for the fight, it will become more complicated. Additionally, the Bludgeon is powerful, as well as fast.
Fighting The Queen
First Phase
Put protect from magic and piety on your quick prayers. Drink your super combat and run-up to the queen. Start by using your spec weapon on her, then switch to your crush weapon
When you need to eat, simply right click and walk under the queen as shown below(eat around 50 HP) so she can’t attack you.
When you are using your spec weapon it is recommended to run under the queen in a similar fashion as when you are eating in order to reduce the damage you take in between each special attack.
Second Phase
After you have killed the first phase, now comes the second phase. Stand under her while waiting for the spawn. Switch prayer to rigour instead of piety.
Put on your ranged gear and attack her. If you are using a crossbow/twisted bow or a slower weapon instead of the blowpipe, you would need to run under her between each attack. That’s why we recommend using a blowpipe. Just as the first phase, when you need to eat run under her to avoid taking damage.
After The Fight
Once you have slain the Kalphite Queen, loot and then teleport back to your house and use the pool, before taking the fairy ring back to her again. Also, refill on supplies if you need to from the bank.
