Zalcano Boss Guide

Requirements

For the requirements, the only thing you need is complete the quest, Song of the Elves. This quest will give you access to the new elf city. However, it is also recommended that you have a high HP as Zalcano can deal 30-50 damage.

Gear

For your gear, you might want to use the full graceful gear. If you don’t have this, you might want to wear your gear that most reduces weight. Also, use the best pickaxe that you may use. 

If you have the Varrock armor, you may use it instead as it can give you a 10% mining effect.

You may also use the Phoenix necklace. This necklace restores your hit points by 30% of your maximum hit points if you reach less than 20% of your max hit points. If you have this necklace and get at risk and cannot brew or fail to notice your HP bar, it can save you from dying. 

Inventory Setup

When it comes to your inventory, you need to bring food and stamina. You may use brews as you do not have to bank often with them. You also would have inventory space for loot if you bring brews instead.

Zalcano Fight Overview

When it comes to fighting, in the room, you will see a rock in each of the four corners. If you mine these rocks, you will get tephra. 

You would want to look for the glowing rock. This rock will give you the highest amount of tephra. You will get an amount of tephra, depending on the size of your team. 

If you have 15 and more people in your team, you probably get around 5 tephra. After you obtain tephra, go to the furnace and refine the tephra. 

Then you should run into the altar and turn this into imbued tephra. After you have gotten the imbued tephra, you should now click Zalcano to throw the tephra to this boss. 

Zalcano’s shield will be lowered. Zalcano’s shield has 300 HP, and you should get Zalcano’s shield to 0. Once you have reached 0, you can now damage Zalcano. You have to do this three times.

Zalcano Boss Mechanics

First Attack Mechanic

There are different attacks that Zalcano can use on you. One of these attacks is Zalcano placing blue and red symbols on the floor in which the red ones are bad, and the blue symbols are good.

If you step on the red symbols, you will get damaged. If you step on the blue symbols, you will get an accuracy boost and damage boost if you use the blue tephra to attack Zalcano.

Second Attack Mechanic

Zalcano’s second attack is the boulder attack. Before the boulder attack, dust and debris will fall from the ceiling.

Boulders will fall from the places where the dirt fall from. When the boulders are close to the ground, a shadow will be visible. If these boulders hit you, you will get 40 or more damage.

Third Attack Mechanic

Zalcano also throws a red ball. If Zalcano throws this ball into a rock formation, the rock formation will be deactivated, and you will also get damaged. You have to dodge in a way that you move further away from the rock formation. 

If Zalcano throws the red ball towards somewhere else, a golem will be spawn. If the golem reaches Zalcano, Zalcano can regain 50 shield health. If you are in a big team, you may ignore the golem as it is easier to kill Zalcano. 

However, if you are doing this solo or with a small group of people, you have to kill the golem, or even just damage is to reduce the shield HP that it gives back to Zalcano. You can damage the golem using imbued tephra.

Fourth Attack Mechanic

Zalcano also throws pebbles to the people in the room. You cannot avoid this part.

When Zalcano goes down, Zalcano also rises again, and you should run away from Zalcano when this happens, as Zalcano will throw you, and you will get damaged. You will also get stunned.

MVP System

When it comes to the MVP system, players believe that Zalcano has an MVP system in which the player who deals Zalcano the most damage will receive more rewards than the others. You can also only obtain the pet from Zalcano if you are the MVP. If you want to have the pet here, you might want to kill Zalcano alone or with only a small group. As the MVP, you will receive three regular drops, One of these drops is composed of crystals and another of ashes.

Zalcano Location

To get to the location of Zalcano, you have to go to the southeast of the center of Prifddinas. There is a teleport platform here that you use to get to the location of Zalcano. 

If there is a fight happening, you should not join in. You should wait for it to finish then you should enter the room before the new boss fight starts.
