The Xeric’s Talisman is a great item that can bring an excellent quality of life feature when you have it in Oldschool RuneScape. With enough charges, it can take you to various locations around the island of Zeah. It is also beneficial when doing raids and teleporting from one place to another.
However, it can be a complicated item to obtain. It has a relatively low drop rate, making it tedious to get. There are two methods that you can use to get it. You can either try to picklock in chests or kill Lizardman. Each method will be explained in more detail here.
Requirements
Each method has a requirement that you will need to pass. These are shown below.
- Mid-high combat levels for the killing way
- Level 64 Thieving for the skilling way
Needed Items
Similarly, there are also items that you will need. Here are the items you should prepare before grinding for the Talisman.
- Proper gear, food, and protection prayers – These items will be necessary for the combat method. To help you kill faster and to avoid getting killed, these are items that you need to have.
- Lockpick – This will be important for the skilling method. You can reduce the failure chances you get from picklock actions with it.
- Antipoison – No matter what method you choose, this is necessary. Lizardman can have poisonous attacks, so you should be prepared in advance.
Recommended Items
While these items are optional, they can help improve your chances and lessen the grind.
- Cannon – This can help you kill more Lizardmen at a faster speed.
- Stamina potion – This can help restore your stamina while performing numerous picklocks.
- Needle, thread, and chisel – If you want additional craft experience, then you can bring this with you.
Killing Method
The first method that you can use is the killing way. To start, there are several areas in the Great Kourend where you can do this. However, if you have a lower level, you should go to the Lizardman Canyon, located between the Lovakengj Assembly and Shayzien.
The Lizardman Canyon is one of the best places because the Lizardmen will focus on the soldiers first. This method is relatively straightforward because you need to kill Lizardmen until you get a Xeric’s Talisman drop. It’s important to remember, though, that you will need 5% Shayzien favor to kill the Lizardman in this area. When you kill them, it also provides an additional 0.1% to your Shayzien favor.
This is a straightforward task, but it will take time and luck. Usually, the chance to get a Xeric’s Talisman drop is 1/250. However, if you finish the Easy Diary quest, you can get a better chance at 1/125 rates. Keep on killing Lizardmen until you get the Talisman. If you get Lizardman fangs as drop, keep them too. You can use them to charge the Talisman.
Skilling Method
If you do not want to rely on combat skills, you can also try the Skilling method. If you reach the required level 64 Thieving, you can do this. Teleport to Molch. Go to the area where you can find the Lizardman dwelling.
Enter the dwelling and head for its western area. You will find several stone chests. Picklock these chests and hope that you will get Xeric’s Talisman. With the lockpick in your inventory, you can reduce the number of failures you can receive using this method. Continue to picklocks until you get a successful chest that contains the Talisman.
Charging Xeric’s Talisman
To use the Talisman, you will need to charge it first. The way to charge it is by using Lizardman fang. Right-click the Talisman while you are using the fang to charge it. Each Lizardman fang gives one charge, and the Xeric’s Talisman can hold up to 1000 charges.
