Introduction
Today we’re here with a Vorkath guide for OSRS. Vorkath is a dragon boss that you can do after completing dragon slayer II. It’s pretty profitable and decent for mid-levels to try to get into PvM.
Good range XP can be done on a slayer test for blue dragons as a task, so there are many pros to the method. Let’s get head and get right into the guide.
Requirements
As we said, dragon slayer II is a requirement, so you’ll need that, in addition to that for range and melee, requirements can be just suggestions.
Melee
- 90 Attack
- 90 Strength
- 75+ Defence
Ranged
- 85+ Range
- 75+ Defence
If you don’t get a Vorkath’s head in your 49th kill, you are guaranteed to get it on your 50th kill.
As far as the kills per hour, if you have the recommended stats, it will be somewhere between 18 and 30, just depending on your stats and how good you are along with your gear, it’s a matter of a combination of everything. You get a little higher than 30 if you’re crazy, but not much, so 30 will be about where most people cap out, and the GP per hour is 2.9 to 4.5 mil an hour. This doesn’t take into account supplies, so it’s probably closer to 2.5 to 4 mil an hour depending on what gear setup you’re rocking.
Location
Vorkath can be fought by traveling with Torfinn, by the Rellekka docks. The fastest way to get here is with Fremenik Boots 4.
If you haven’t done the Elite Rellekka Diary, it’s best to use a Lunar Isle teleport in your Player-Owned-House. Bank you items to the right, get you inventory setup, then speak to the banker in the middle and get kicked off the Island:
It will now take you to the same location as the boots teleport. If you don’t have access to the Lunar Isle teleport, you can use a Rellekka Teleport with a redirect house scroll.

Range vs. Melee
Before we get into the actual killing, we have to talk about a couple of things quickly. The first one is ranging versus melee. This comes down to dragon hunter lands vs. dragon under crossbow. If you have a blowpipe, you can’t afford either of these proudly, so this is just personal preference.
The range method will make you less money per hour, probably a couple hundred thousand, just because you’re spending money on bolts and whatnot.
Generally, the melee makes you more money, and it’s said to be more enjoyable. The whole gear setup will cost you a little bit more, but it’s worth it. Again, it might be a personal preference in terms of costs and enjoyability.
Then as far as overhead prayer as we advance, you’re going to want a super antifire with all of your setups. You’ll be praying mage with a blowpipe, and with the dragon hunter set up, you’ll be praying range. So that’s how it works going forward.
Attacks
Now that we have all the gear and requirements for Vorkath let’s get into the actual killing. As far as how we want to do it, offensively, it’s pretty simple.
The only things you’re going to have to change are using a dragon hunter crossbow. 35% of the way through the kill, you’re going to want to switch from ruby bolts to diamond bolts, and if are also using a BGS, you have two options: you can either dump both specs and then read teleport to home after every kill, or you can try to get a 30 plus spec on him and say you’ve specs if you can.
That will prevent more baking, but it might be slower. It depends on how your character does against the forecast. It’s dependant on your stats, so test it out and see which one you like more. That’s all you need to worry about offensively for the forecast.
Most of the effort should go into the defense to make sure you don’t die because there is a 100k fee, which is not much on its own but can set you back about almost a kill.
Strat
The plan of attack basically would be 6 regular attacks- 1 acid or spawn -6 regular – 1 flip.
Vorkath has two special attacks, and they alternate each time each way through the cycle. The six regular attacks aren’t all that dangerous, but special attacks are a little bit more.
Let’s break down the regular attacks first.
Regular attacks
- Range
- Mage
- Melee
For all of these, you’re going to be tanking unless you’re praying against them, and the only things you should praying are range or mage. Those are the basic ones.
Acid Attack – On top of them, you have an acid-based hit, which venoms you.
Prayer deactivates – this turns your prayers off, and if you don’t have your prayers up, it can’t hurt you. So simply turn on them again.
Fire breath – then you’re going to have like a regular fire breath attack. Depending on your setup, you’ll be at different protection stages, and it might hurt you little if you have maximum protection.
Firebomb – and finally, we have a firebomb, which is the most devastating. He shoots out a big old firebomb into the air, and you have to move two steps away from where you’re currently at.
It’s that simple: if you move one step away, you’ll get hit probably around 50 plus; if you don’t move at all, you will probably die. This is pretty much the only one you have to pay attention to; the other ones are easier to deal with.
Special Attacks
When it comes to special attacks, we have two, and you don’t know which one is coming first, so be prepared for either. They alternate through cycles. If you have one the first time, you’ll probably have the other one on the following time. It’s that easy.
Zombified Spawn – this one you have to cast crumble undead on. If you’re doing that out of your mage book, it will be a little bit harder because if you misclick on the spawn and he’s very tiny, you might get hit like a 50 by him. To prevent that, you can use the slayer staff, which makes miss clicks not as detrimental.
If you don’t have a slayer staff whenever you cast a spell on them out of your inventory, right-click them instead of left-clicking. That way, that also prevents you from losing the spell if you miss click. And if everything’s failing and he’s running at you, and you’re not going to be able to cast a spell, shoot a bolt at it if you’re ranging.
Acid walk – there are two strategies for this; the first is to walk it out and go back and forth until the acid goes away. If you step on the acid pools, it will heal the forecast slightly while dealing with damage to you.
The alternative is the Woox walk method, which is how you still get damaged and are walking. This is a little more advanced.
With the melee setup, as soon as your character rears back his weapon, walk backward to keep him still in motion, and then as soon as your character turns around, click back on Vorkath.
Just keep moving while you’re attacking, and you’ll be doing this. You can attack with the dragon hunter crossbow; at this point, you’ll be running the backline of the area and then attacking him. That’ll drag you forward.
After it drags you, click back, run three squares and then click on him again. Sometimes you got to run more than three squares if your venom’s in the way, but you work that out over time as you get used to avoiding the venom while also whoops walking. It’s a lot harder to do, but it’s also more rewarding.
Vorkath Drops
The average Vorkath drop is worth 130k at the moment
Rare Items
- Draconic visage – you could get lucky and hit the first one being in there
- Skeletal visage – again pretty rare to see
- Dragonbone necklace – wearing it requires level 80 in prayer and currently offers the highest prayer bonus of any piece of equipment available in osrs
- Clue scroll (elite) – 1/65 rate of rarity, which is pretty good if you’re looking to get some good GP while also may be hunting master clues
- Vorkath’s head – and then 1/50 drop rate for the vorkath head are usually useful for the ava’s assembler after dragonslayer.
And this is it. Vorkath is by far one of the best money-making bosses for a person reaching a pretty high-level account and recommended if you’re looking to train a little bit of range.
