Old School Runescape Kraken Guide

Kraken Location

Kraken Cove can be found in the southwest in the Piscatoris Fishing Colony. You can use the AKQ fairy ring code to get there or a Piscatoris teleport scroll.

In this location, there lives the Kraken boss who is powerful, but killing it also earns you a lot of profit.

Kraken Loot

Kraken drops a variety of runes, seeds, materials, weapons and armor. You can semi-AFK this boss, which is also nice. The Kraken drops the Kraken Tentacle, and this item can upgrade your abyssal whip. It also drops the Jar of Dirt and the Trident of the Seas. The trident of the seas is also a great mage weapon. The Kraken boss also has a pet drop, which is a small Kraken.

Requirements

When you kill the Kraken boss, you need to have slayer level 87. If you do not have this yet, you cannot fight the Kraken. You should also have the assignment of slaying the Kraken to be able to access the Kraken Cove.

Konar and Duradel are the ones that you should go for if you are looking for the highest in terms of task weight.

You also need to have level 50 in Magic. You would not get the slayer task without this level of magic.

Recommended Levels

For the recommendations in levels, you might want to have at least level 75 magic. There are some items that you can only access at level 75 that could help you kill the Kraken.

You also should have at least level 75 defence for the same reason.

You also need at least 70 HP.

You also need at least level 45 Prayer, which will allow you Mystic Might usage. This increases your defense and attack by 15%. If you are willing to spend a little bit, you may want to go for at least 77 levels of Prayer to use both Augury and Spirit Shields.

You would also want to use fairy rings for faster trips as they allow you to teleport, which requires partial completion of Fairytail II – Cure a Queen.

Having an ornate rejuvenation pool helps, which allows the restoration of your stats, good for PvM in general.

You should also have the amulet of glory (mounted) as it can help you easily teleport to the bank, and this item is also inexpensive.

Gear Setup

There are two setups that you would want to go for: the tank setup or the DPS setup.

Welfare Setup Example

Tank Setup

You might want to go for the tank loadout where you may have the slayer helm (i) or the black mask (i) for your helm slot. For your necklace, you may use occult, the amulet of fury, or even the amulet of glory.

• For the cape slot, you may choose among the following: trimmed skill cape, fire cape, infernal cape, god cape, or the imbued god cape.
• For the torso slot, choose among Karil’s leather top, elite void top, the void top, the black d’hide top, or the armadyl chestplate.
• For the leg slot, wear the void robe, black d’hide chaps, Karil’s leather skirt, armadyl chain skirt, or the elite void robe.
• For weapons, use the trident of the swamp, or the trident of the seas, or Iban’s staff (u), Sanguinetti staff, or the slayer staff (e).
• For shield, use any of the following: odium ward, twisted buckler, elysian spirit shield, Dragonfire ward, or spectral spirit shield.
• For the ammo slot, you may use any god blessing, or Rada blessing 4, or even magic bow together with bronze, steel, or iron arrows.
• For gloves, choose among the combat bracelet, the tormented bracelet, rune gloves, barrows gloves, infinity gloves, or the dragon gloves.
• For boots, go with either mystic boots, infinity boots, eternal boots, or wizard boots. For ring slot, use the seer’s ring (i) or perhaps the ring of suffering (i).
• For a special attack, which is optional, you may use the blowpipe. You can simply mix and match these items, depending on what you want to use.

DPS Setup

• Use the slayer helm (i) or maybe the black mask (i) for the helm slot.
• For the necklace, go for the amulet of glory, the amulet of fury, or the occult.
• Use the god cape, the fire cape, or the imbued magic cape for the cape slot.
• For the torso, choose the Ahrim’s top or the ancestral robe top.
• Choose the Ahrim’s bottom or the ancestral robe bottom for the legs.
• For weapons, use Iban’s staff (u), the trident of the seas, the trident of the swamp, or the Sanguinetti staff.
• For shield, you have a lot of choices: the mage’s book, the malediction shield, the twisted buckler, the elysian spirit shield, ancient wyvern shield, arcane spirit shield, or the book of darkness, or the Dragonfire ward.
• For the ammo, use the same for ammo in the tank loadout.
• For gloves, choose among the dragon gloves, regen bracelet, tormented bracelet, or barrows gloves.
• The boots are also the same as the tank loadout.
• The same goes for the ring slot and the special attack.

Inventory Setup

You need 25,000 gold, sharks, four prayer potions, magic short bow and steel arrows or a blowpipe, teleport to house, and imbued heart or two magic potions.

You may also bring the following as they are helpful: dramen staff, empty rune pouch, piscatoris scroll, and also the super defense potion.

Boss Overview

Kraken has a max hit is 28, and it also has 255 HP. Prayer is useless to this boss due to its magic. The Kraken boss is also popular; therefore, you might have to pay 25,000 coins to enter the lair and have a chance to kill the Kraken.

Boss Mechanics

In the Kraken boss’s lair, there are five whirlpools in which the Kraken spawns in the biggest whirlpool. The other four whirlpools are where the tentacles of this monster will spawn in.

Drink your magic potion and prepare for combat. Start the fight by attacking the 4 whirlpools(the tentacles) with your toxic blowpipe or magic shortbow. You can also heal up with the special attack from the blowpipe on the tentacles if you wish(makes the trip slightly longer).

After that, press on the middle big pool in order to fight the Kraken. At this point you should focus on Kraken’s body itself in the center.

Attack the Kraken with magic until you kill it. You should also keep your health in check because the tentacles also attack you.
