The fishing contest is beneficial because it opens up a shortcut under White Wolf Mountain.

Conversation with Vestri

There are 2 starting points, one on either side of the White Wolf Mountain. When you are ready, talk with the dwarf named Vestri on the west side. You can also start it on the east side, but Vestri to the west is closer.

You will ask his permission to go down the stairs, but he will not permit it, stating that it is his land and only friends can enter. Then you will ask him to be your friend, and he will say he needed to trust you, and for that, he wants you to help him win a gold fishing trophy and give you a fishing pass to be used at the fishing competition Hemenster.

Requirements

The requirement for this quest is

• level 10 fishing
• 10 coins
• a fishing rod
• a spade

If you are under level 30 please bring some food because there is a possibility of being attacked by level 44 enemies.

Before joining the competition, you need to get a few items. Run to the west to Seer Village and take the garlic from the table in the house there.

Then squeeze through a fence in MacGruber’s woods. Look for a red vine on the ground and dig it to get 10 to 15 special worms. Be careful with level 44 guard dogs. 

The contest

Go to the west of the Ranging Guild, just north of the Fishing Guild.

Talk to Morris to enter the competition.

You will notice a vampire standing near the pipes who always wins this contest. Add the garlic to the pipes there so that the vampire will abandon the spot.

Talk to Bonzo to start the competition. Sinister Stranger, aka the vampire, will complain about the smell and leave the spot to you.

Now use the red vine worms and catch a raw giant carp. Take it to Bonzo, and once the competition is finished, he will announce you as the winner and give the fishing trophy to you.

Take the trophy to Vestri, and he will tell you about the secret shortcut under the mountains.
