If you got here, odds are that you already know that there is a link between agility and run energy. A lot of Runescape players know about this relationship but most of them do not fully understand how it works.

How it Works

The relationship between agility and run energy is calculated by the game differently than what most players think. Agility does not cause you to lose less run energy. What it does is increase your run energy regeneration rate. The more agility you have the faster your run energy regenerates.

Putting Things into Numbers

To understand the relationship between the two, it is important to put things into numbers. At level 1 agility it takes 12 minutes to get from 0 to 100 run energy. At level 99 agility, it takes 4 minutes and 4 seconds to fully regenerate your run energy. This means that at level 99, the time needed to regenerate run energy is around 30% of the time needed at level 1 agility.

Diminishing Returns

As expected, the higher you go in level, the effect of agility over your run regen rate starts to diminish. You notice the effect less and less. At some point, you can barely notice any improvement. For the first 30 agility levels, you will find it easy to observe this effect. At level 30 agility you need 9 minutes to fully regen your run energy.

Tips

At level 30 Agility, you can start farming the Graceful outfit. This outfit runs energy regeneration time by 30% while standing still or walking. To get the set you will need to pay 260 marks of grace. You need to have the full set equipped to get the effect. You can farm the marks of grace by doing rooftop agility and picking up the Marks of Grace that drop randomly.
