Cockatrice slayer task is an early game task that offers decent XP and is a pretty quick and easy task to finish up. Cockatrice is a level 37 monster, and it has a melee attack with a maximum hit of 5, but they are pretty much weak to everything. You need 25 slayer with a mirror shield to deflect cockatrice’s ability to drain your stats. You need a 20 defense to wield a mirror shield.

Equipment options

For melee options, you can choose low-level gear like mithril scimitar, mithril armor, and an amulet of strength, or mid-level gear like dragon scimitar, dragon armor, and the ring of wealth, black mask, and an amulet of glory.

Make sure you wear a mirror shield.

  1. Rune full helm
  2. Ardounge cloak
  3. amulet of str
  4. rune scimitar
  5. rune platelegs/platebody
  6. mirror shield
  7. combat bracelet
  8. climbing boots

For range options, you can choose low-level equipment like snakeskin armor, amulet of glory, and mithril dart, or you can go for mid-level equipment like adamant darts, amulet of fury, black mask, archer’s ring, and best D’hide armor.

Cockatrice Location

To slay the cockatrice you need to get to Rellekka cave. You have 4 options on how to get there.

  • Slayer ring – Need to unlock slayer reward and must have 75 crafting.
  • A fairy ring (AJR) – Must have a partial completion of fairy tale part 2.
  • Rellekka house Teleport – Can have a house based here or use a scroll of redirection on a house tablet.
  • Camelot Teleport – Must have 45 magic or a Camelot teleport tablet.

Inventory Setup & Tips

We recommend a few items in your inventory: a slayer ring for general usage, house teleport to leave, dragon dagger, herb sack ( not necessary), attack potion, strength potion, and some food. The monster here gives a good XP and pretty good drops like medium clue scroll and light mystic boots.

Cockatrice is not aggressive so you can use a melee weapon to hit or you can use a ranged weapon to hit it and hide behind a rock before continuing the attack.
