Introduction of OSRS Rings
Rings are a powerful item in OSRS, taking up one of your equipment slots. They are very versatile in the bonuses they can give your character! From speeding up your hunting skill, providing damage bonuses, or even the amount of Hit Points you restore when consuming potions or food items!
Aside from the basic rings that provide negligible bonuses, which we aren’t going to cover here, there are several different types of rings that we are going to explore below.
Enchanted Rings
The enchanted rings are rings that the player can apply an enchantment to themselves with a high enough magic level.
- Ring of Pursuit – An opal ring enchanted with the level 1 Magic Enchant Spell (7 Magic to cast). When equipped, there is a 25% chance of showing the tracks of all hunter creatures (aside from herbiboars) caught by a noose wand. You get 10 charges before the ring disappears.
- Ring of Returning – A jade ring enchanted with the level 2 Magic Enchant Spell (27 Magic to cast). It can be used five times before disappearing; it teleports the player back to their current respawn point. Note: Does not work past 20 Wilderness Level.
- Efaritay’s Aid – A topaz ring enchanted with the level 3 Magic Enchant Spell (49 Magic to cast). This ring allows the wearer to harm vampiric creatures that are normally only vulnerable to silver weaponry with any weapon. This ring has 200 charges, which are used for every attack regardless of the result. The caveat is that the most damage can be done in a single hit is 10.
- Ring of Recoil – A sapphire ring enchanted with the level 1 Magic Enchant Spell ( 7 Magic to Cast). When equipped, the attacker reflects 10% + 1 damage received by the player. The ring can reflect up to 40 damage before it breaks.
- This ring can be used to charge a ring suffering from having the same effect and does not need several rings of recoil. When this is done, the ring of recoil is recharged back to full capacity. This ring is very useful against enemies with a fast attack speed but deals low damage.
- Ring of Dueling – An emerald ring enchanted with the level 2 Magic Enchant Spell ( 27 Magic to Cast). The ring has 8 charges and, when used, can teleport the player to three different locations. The Al Kharid Duel Arena, Castle Wars Arena, or the Ferox Enclave.
- Ring of Forging – A ruby ring made with the Level 3 Magic Enchant Spell ( 49 Magic to Cast). This ring has 140 charges before it breaks. When a player smelts iron ore while wearing the ring, they have a 100% success rate of creating an iron bar.
- Ring of Life – A diamond ring enchanted with a Level 4 Magic Enchant Spell (57 Magic to Cast). Has one charge; when a player receives damage below 10% of their hit points, the ring will teleport the wearer to their respawn point. The user will die if the damage is sufficient to drop the player’s hit points to 0. This effect will trigger up to Level 30 Wilderness, and if the quest Medium Ardougne Diary is finished, the teleport destination can be changed to East Ardougne.
- Ring of Wealth – A dragonstone ring enchanted with a Level 5 Magic Enchant Spell ( 68 Magic to Cast). While wearing this ring when killing monsters, it will automatically pick up coins, and other forms of the currency dropped by monsters. It has 5 teleport charges, which can be refilled at the Fountain of Rune in the wilderness (members only).
- Ring of Stone – An Onyx ring enchanted with a Level 6 Magic Enchant Spell (87 Magic to Cast). It changes the player’s appearance to look like an empty mining rock; if the player moves, the effect ends. Often used to trick runite ore miners in the Lava Maze runite mine. Note: There are no finite amount of charges for this ring
- Ring of Suffering – A zenyte ring enchanted with a Level 7 Magic Enchant Spell (93 Magic to Cast). Requires 75 Hit Points to be equipped. This ring is considered the best defensive slot ring and can be imbued into a ring of suffering (i) which has doubled equipment bonuses. As mentioned above, it can also be imbued with the ring of recoil effects. Stat bonuses: +10 Defense vs. Stab, Slash, Crush, Magic, and Ranged attacks, as well as +2 to Prayer.
Fremennik Rings
These four rings are used with each combat class and are of the few rings that provide attack bonuses. They can be imbued to double their bonuses as well. They are dropped by the Dagannoth Kings in the Waterbirth Island Dungeon and are some of the most expensive rings.
- Archers Ring – +4 to Ranged Attack and Defense
- Berserker Ring – +4 to Defense vs. Crushing attacks. +4 to Strength Stat.
- Seers Ring – +6 to Magic Attack and Defense
- Warriors Ring – +4 to Slashing Attack and Defense
Wilderness Rings
The wilderness rings are dropped by different Wilderness Bosses, Callisto, Venenatis, and Vet’ion. Like the Fremennik rings above, they are of the few that give stat bonuses and can be imbued to double the stats each ring gives.
- Ring of the Gods – This ring provides defensive bonuses of +1 of all stats, stab, slash, crush, magic, and ranged. It also provides a +4 bonus to Prayer, which, when doubled, is the best in-slot prayer bonus ring in the game.
- Treasonous Ring – Gives +4 bonus to Stab attack and defense.
- Tyrannical Ring – Gives +4 bonus to Crush attack and defense.
Transformation Rings
These rings are a collection of rings in the game that will change the player model to look like something else. The effect will end if the player moves while any of the transformations are in effect. Received through quests or other means. These are used as pranks in the game and have no real value to character stats, etc.
- Ring of Coins – This ring can change the player model to look like a pile of coins on the ground. If another player right-clicks on it, the usual options such as ‘Walk here’ or ‘Follow’ will appear. This ring is a possible reward from the quest master Treasure Trails. Otherwise, this ring is available in exchange for over 15m Coins.
- Ring of Crate – This ring is obtainable at an Easter event as of 2022; when it is equipped, the player will transform into a crate.
- Easter Ring – This ring is untradeable and is obtained by completing one of the annual Easter holiday events. When used, it turns the player into an Easter egg; the color is determined by location.
- Ring of Nature – This ring can be obtained as a reward from elite Treasure Trails. When used, it will transform the player into a bush.
- Snowman Ring – This is another untradeable holiday reward that can be obtained by completing one of the Christmas holiday events. When used, it allows the player to transform into three types of snowmen: Traditional, Tempy, or Thermy.
- Ring of 3rd Age – This ring can be obtained as a drop from The Mimic. When used, it can transform the player into random 3rd age equipment, including four different armor sets, an axe, a pickaxe, a ring, and a cloak. The 3rd age equipment sets are reminiscent of the 3rd age of Gielinor.
Other Rings
This last section of rings tallies the last of our special rings in this post that are a part of OSRS. These are a collection of rings that don’t quite fit in the other categories. They are used for and acquired from quests, defeating difficult monsters, and treasure quests.
- Beacon Ring – This ring is used in the quest What Lies Below. This ring can be regained from Zaff (who owns Zaff’s Superior Staves in Varrock) for free and is a free alternative to the Seers’ ring, giving a lesser magic attack stat. Gives +2 to Magic Attack and +1 to Magic Defense.
- Brimstone Ring – Created by combining three untradeable components, the hydra’s eye, fang, and heart (Hydras drop these components and the Alchemical Hydra, found in the lower level of the Karuulm Slayer Dungeon). These rings grant very good offensive and defensive stats, which makes them an expensive ring to acquire. All offensive and defensive stats increase by 4, except magic which is increased by 6 plus adding +4 to the Strength stat. This ring also has a passive effect while worn; every time a player attacks with a spell or magical attack, there is a 25% chance that the target’s defensive roll will be reduced by 10%.
- Celestial Ring – This ring is acquired from the Shooting Stars activity, purchased from Dusuri’s Star Shop for 2000 stardust. It gives a +4 boost to mining (does not allow the player to mine ore above their actual level) and, when charged, has a 10% chance to give an extra ore when mining rocks up to adamantite.
- Ring of Charos – This ring is a reward from the Creature of Fenkenstrain quest. When worn, it charms specific NPCs giving different dialogue options and benefits. During the Garden of Tranquility quest, this ring is upgraded to the ring of Charos(a). If lost, another can be gained by pickpocketing Dr. Fenkenstrain. This ring has many different uses, provides a reduced cost of transportation, is used in several quests.
- Elven Signet – This unique ring can only be acquired from crystal implings. When worn, it gives a 10% chance to not use a charge while using crystal equipment (except the Blade of Saeldor and Bow of Faerdhinen). It can be combined with a celestial ring to combine the effects of both to create the celestial signet.
- Ring of the Elements – Can be purchased from the Guardians of the Rift reward shop for 400 Abyssal pearls. It teleports the player to their choice of the elemental runic alters. It comes charged with one of each elemental rune and one law rune and can be charged up to a max of 10000 charges. Costs 152 gp per teleport.
- Ring of Endurance – Potential reward from the Grand Hallowed Coffin on the final floor of the Hallowed Sepulchre. This ring requires level 70 agility to equip and can be charged up to 1000 times with stamina potions. It has two effects while charged: If the player uses a dose of stamina potion with the ring equipped, it restores 40% stamina, and the potion’s duration is doubled. The other effect is if there are over 500 charges, it reduces the run drain by 15%.
- Explorer Ring – This ring has 4 variations that are rewards from the Lumbridge & Draynor Diary and are received by speaking to Haitus Cosaintus in Lumbridge. Each variation is an upgrade onto the last and is acquired from doing harder and harder tasks.
- Granite Ring – This ring is dropped by the Grotesque Guardians that can be found on the Slayer Tower‘s rooftop. It can be imbued to double its stats. Requires level 50 Defense and Strength to wear it. Defensive stats given are +2 to Stab, Slash, and Crush. -2 to Magic defense and +8 to Ranged.
- Hallowed Ring – This item can be purchased from the Mysterious Hallowed Goods shop for 250 hallowed marks. It reduces recovery time and prevents damage from failing traps inside the Hallowed Sepulchre. It can be used as a Saradomin item and as a follower item in God Wars Dungeon.
- Lunar Ring – Obtained during the Lunar Diplomacy quest and is a piece of lunar equipment. Gives a +2 bonus to both Magic attack and defense.
- Perfect Ring – This is a quest item used in the Family Crest quest. Simply used for the quest, giving no other bonuses to the player.
- Slayer Ring – This ring can be purchased from Slayer masters for 75 Slayer reward points, or if you spend 300 points for the ‘ring bling’ unlock, gaining the ability to craft them (requires 75 crafting). Each ring has 8 charges and teleports the user to Slayer destinations and masters. A Slayer Ring (eternal) can be crafted using an eternal gem instead of an enchanted gem, giving the ring unlimited charges.
- Stolen Garnet Ring – This is obtained by stealing artifacts from houses in Port Piscarilius and requires 49 thieving and 75% Piscarilius favor. This ring is given to Captain Khaled for 500-1000 coins and a Thieving experience worth 40x the player’s thieving level and 2% Piscarilius favor.
- Ring of Visibility – This ring can be obtained from Rasolo, the merchant, after completing a part of the quest Desert Treasure. The ring allows the player to see mysterious ghosts and other objects that are normally invisible.
